Post Chain lube
As I haven't had to buy chain lube during my 12 year biking layoff, what can you lot reccommend to me? Used to use Bel-Ray synthetic, no fling stuff in the olden days but wht is the best today?

Post Re: Chain lube
I use 30/70 mix of bearing grease/turbine oil that I get from work. I found an old thumb pump oil can at the dump when I was binning some old oil. Took it to work, cleaned, stripped and sprayed it red ~ it's ideal for applying it.

So long as you use it regularly, never let the chain go dry and use extra in wet weather, it's brilliant. I normally have to adjust the chain just once a year (10,000 miles), so gives me a chain life of about 70k/7 years.

You could probably mix something similar up yourself, using grease and a low viscosity oil (old engine oil?). As a guide, the stuff I use once mixed is the consistency of custard.

:P

I use MOTUL Chain lube. It works well, and a can lasts ages compared to others.

I'm a fan of Wurth myself.

Silkolene was too thin for my liking.
