 My latest project
Hi I picked up another zzr400n in fairly good condition but it has a bearing knock I was informed of this and had hoped that it was not the case but I have a motor lieing around So my idea is to use the gearbox of this motor and bang it into my old motor. I havent even started stripping my old motor after the gearbox went bang (I can only get 4th or 5th) and now I think the time has come. I took out the engine but havent started stripping yet Anything I should be on the look out for? Im not too sure if I have to remove the entire gearbox (gears) or only some? Got some pics up on here: http://s936.photobucket.com/albums/ad20 ... 20zzr400n/Ta

 Re: My latest project
Hi I managed to strip the engine this weekend, I found the big ends were gone on all four cylinders and the main bearings all seem ok. Dont have my camera with me today but will get some pics up soon. I also found some strange marks/scratches all round the clucth(basket) and ideas of how this caused I started the bike last night and at first I thought its got a bearing knock again but after a while the noise went away and now it only makes a scraping sound when it idles at 1-2.5 rpm, the sound comes from the clutch area so I think its the clutch basket scraping against the casing? Any ideas? I plan to strip the clutch later and check

Hi Donny, this might be a silly suggestion. Im not sure but check to see if the nut might be on an opposite thread, if that dont work then an impact wrench will do it. D.D.D

 Re: My latest project
Hi all Got the clutch out by making another took unfortunately no pics of the tool now The noise disappeared when I put in my clutch basket Then found I had to replace the throttle and a few bits here and there but she starts first time I rode the bike to work today and it went well, the 150 rear tyre has to come off asap and the exhaust is a tad bit rusted .... Some more pics up on here and more to come http://s936.photobucket.com/albums/ad20 ... 20zzr400n/

 Re: My latest project
Hi I replaced the rusted exhaust for a nice shinny standard 4 into 2 system, this is before And after And then on my way home on Wednesday last week, this happened Guy says he didnt see me and pulled out infront of me, we've reached an agreement that he will repair the bike as I dont have insurance on this one Mainly comestic damage but the forks are bent any other places I should check for damage, I havent started the bike after the accident only stripped it a bit and now trying to source parts.
